VIDEO - UNCOVERING STOCKS DRIVING STRONGEST INDUSTRY GROUPS. VIDEO SAYS TO CLICK ON TAB ALL MEDIA GENERAL AVERAGES (LOCATED JUST BELOW WORDEN MARKET INDICATORS). MY SYSTEM DOES NOT HAVE THE TAB "ALL MEDIA GENERAL AVERAGES."

A) WHY DON'T I HAVE THIS OPTION ?

B) DOES THE LACK OF THIS OPTION MAKE THE PROCEDURE USELESS TO ME ??? I STILL HAVE A DESIRE TO FIND THE STRONGEST PERFORMING SECTORS.

THANKS ... GZ

The video was made using the previous version of TeleChart, and in the new version, the name of the industry watchlist was changed. It is now called Media General Industry Groups, and it is listed as one of the component watchlists. If you pull down the watchList selection menu and type the word Industry, you see it. CLick on it, and you'll be on your way. Sorry for the confusion!

clicking on first video, it starts, progresses to the point where the first change is done, then the sound stops, the chart does not change further, and nothing continues to happen for several minutes and no further progress is made. clicking on subsequent videos , nothing happens at all except a blank screen. in the first video the little black band continues to move, but that is all

I tried using the Custom Date Sort and it works very well.
But, I can not stop TC from asking me if I want to recalculate the date sort, everytime I look at a different watch list. Please tell me how do I stop the Custom date sort. Thank you

Switch to another sort...any sort...and the program will stop asking if you want to calculate the custom date sort.

Great! Glad to be of help.

Your most recent Custom Date Sort will remain available to use on any other watchlists until you select a different sort criterion.

I am a new gold customer and find the video uncovering stocks driving the
strongest industry groups very helpful.
But when I tried to create the watchlist, I do not have the
"All Media General Industy Averages" under the System Watchlists.

Nor do I have "Hard drive charts" as shown in the video.

Thanks hheiden

Hard Drive Charts are a thing of the past with the newest version. All the charts are on the hard drive now!

When you open the WatchList pulldown use the Type In feature and type MEDIA you should find "Media General Industry Averages" (we dropped the "all").

Here is a great post full of videos that will make sure you get the most out of your Gold Service.

Craig, Sometime ago you mentioned that you were going to up the PCF you wrote for doing candlestick searches. Did this happen?

Piercing doesn't work right and wanted this one also.

jbyrne,
If I'm understanding your question correctly, you can also bring up Custom Date Sort using the TeleChart menus:

Select Watchlist | Custom Date Sort.

Hi,
is this possible for TeleChart 2007?
to uncover stocks that are driving the strongest industry groups?

I would like to have a list of the strongest industry groups, and then find the strongest stocks in that group.
I watched the video, but wondered if it is possible to do this with TeleChart 2007?!

Yes. Instead of using Media General use the Hemscott WatchList.

Any chance you could build industry rankings into easy scans? I'm thinking that the ability to do an easy scan that returns only results that are within one of the top X # of groups and are one of the top Y # of performing stocks from within those groups would be very valuable...

Imagine a constantly shifting scan that displays the top 10 stocks from each of the top 10 groups, while also being able to use the other easy scan filters such as volume and EPS

TeleChart is not capable of this but Blocks is VERY adept at doing this type of strategy.

Check out this video:

pcarma,
The name has changed (because the company providing the data changed names). The Watchlist is now called Hemscott Industry Groups (which is located under System Watchlists when you are using the drop-down menu to change the Active Watchlist).

It's now called Morningstar Industry Groups.  Morningstar bought Hemscott.

The video is interesting, but not helpful since it is unfortunately quite dated. How about a quick, step by step procedure, using TelChart 2007, on how to sort the industry sectors and then the stocks with in the sectors that are driving the industry? This would be very useful since the videp does not now provide this information. Thank you.

Other than "All Media General Industry Averages" list now being named "Morningstar Industry Groups", everything shown in the video is the same in TeleChart 2007. None of the features he uses in the video have changed.
